Hey! I’m Ian from Troy, New York, originally born and raised in New York City. My first introduction into Indie and Alternative music was when I was 9 years old. My late grandmother, who used to watch over me while my mom was at work, would fall asleep, and I would turn the TV to MTV to watch Subterranean. It was here where I discovered artists such as Interpol, The Strokes, Modest Mouse, and Bloc Party. This experience growing up would shape the music taste that I continue to carry today.

Some of the most positive experiences I’ve had in my life have come through music, whether seeing shows or discovering artists with friends. Every time I find a song on Soundcloud or Spotify from an artist I’ve never heard before and I like it, there’s this feeling of humble accomplishment knowing that you’ve added another aide to help you through your day in the form of a song. It’s great to be a part of a station that prides itself on providing that feeling to listeners across the nation.

Some of the Artists that I consistently Jam are: Bloc Party, Friendly Fires, Phoenix, Tokyo Police Club, Saint Michel, Minus the Bear, Foals, Blackbird Blackbird, and J Dilla.

I also write poetry and creative non-fiction, play Bass in a band called Oh Bother!, and waste a good amount of my time watching Sports. You can check out my writing in the captions of my Instagram posts at @imacks22.
