Rochmon Record Club Listening Party Bruce Springsteen’s “Darkness on the Edge of Town”

On Thursday November 16 Rochmon Record Club will converge at The Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio 339 Central Ave., Albany, to listen to, and learn about, Bruce Springsteen’s 4th album, “Darkness On The Edge Of Town”. Tickets available at thelinda.org

Under a contractual “lockdown” Bruce went on the road with the E Street Band for 3 years after the release of his epic, career defining album, “Born To Run”. Legal issues resolved, Bruce and The E Street Band went into the studio and recorded his finest album. From the album opener, “Badlands”, to “Candy’s Room”, “Racing In The Street”, and “Prove It All Night” and 4 more, Bruce takes us on a cautionary tale of the price you pay for getting everything you want. As is his way, Rochmon will have a few surprises in store!

Rochmon Record Club Listening Parties begin at 7 pm with a live audio & video presentation by Chuck Vosganian aka “Rochmon”. A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, the songs, and the stories that went into the making of this iconic album.

The Linda’s Bar will be open for snacks and drinks. Tickets are available online at thelinda.org. The Rochmon Record Club is held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at Caffe’ Lena (caffelena.org) in Saratoga Springs, the 3rd Thursday of the month at The Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio in Albany, and the last Wednesday of the Month at The Park Theater (parktheatergf.com) in Glens Falls. Sound+Vision: Music at The Movie Moonage Daydream + David Bowie

Sound + Vision: Music at The Movies presents the greatest in soundtrack-cinema. On the first Tuesday of every month, we curate a film screening where the music fuels the engine of the cinema experience, with a preshow moderated discussion on the film and music’s history and cultural impact.

Presented in Hi-def and 51. surround sound. Co-sponsored by WAMC, WEXT, and Rochmon Record Club.

Moonage Daydream illuminates the life and genius of David Bowie, one of the most prolific and influential artists of our time. Guided by Bowie’s own narration and told through sublime, kaleidoscopic, never-before-seen footage, performances, and music, this feature-length experiential cinematic odyssey explores his creative, musical, and spiritual journey.

In 2018, Morgen was granted unprecedented access to Bowie’s archives encompassing a lifetime of materials, including an extensive catalog of unseen footage and personal collection of his own art and poetry. He spent four years assembling the film and another 18 months designing the soundscape, animations, and color palette while working with Bowie’s long-time collaborator, friend, and music producer Tony Visconti as well as Academy Award-winning sound mixer Paul Massey (“Bohemian Rhapsody”).

An official selection of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, Moonage Daydream is one of the most critically acclaimed and celebrated documentaries of the year. The film won the WGA Award for Best Documentary Screenplay, CAS Award for Best Sound Mix-Documentary, and the MPSE Award for Best Music Editing. It received five Critics Choice Award nominations, winning the award for Best Editing, and was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Documentary.

Moonage Daydream is presented by HBO Documentary Films; written, directed, produced, and edited by Brett Morgen; executive produced by Kathy Rivkin Daum, Hartwig Masuch, Justus Haerder, Michael Rapino, Heather Parry, Ryan Kroft, Billy Zysblat, Tom Cyrana, Eileen D’Arcy, Aisha Cohen, Debra Eisenstadt, and Bill Gerber; re-recording mixers Paul Massey and David Giammarco; music produced by Tony Visconti.

Rochmon Record Club Listening Party The Beatles “The White Album” Disk 1 – Sides A&B

On Thursday, October 19th Rochmon Record Club will converge at The Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio 339 Central Ave., Albany, to listen to, and learn about, The Beatles – “The Beatles” aka “The White Album” – Disc 1. Tickets available at thelinda.org

The Beatles follow-up to “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” was to be a double record set filled with innovative and diverse music. The Beatles had been on a retreat to India in early 1968 and had experienced a rush of creative energy. George Martin, The Beatles’ executive producer, wanted them to pare the 30 songs on “The White Album” down to a single record. Beatles fans are forever grateful they didn’t. At this Rochmon Record Club Listening Party we listen to Disc 1 of “The Beatles” aka “The White Album”, which features such Beatles classics as “Back in the U.S.S.R.”, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-a-Da”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Blackbird”, “I Will” and 11 others. As is his way, Rochmon will have a few surprises in store!
