Anything that can be pressed…..will be pressed!

Nine Pin Cider is excited to host their 5th annual PRESSING PARTY. Join the Nine Pin crew as they once again press over 100 varieties of Samascott Orchards, Lindsey’s Idyllwood Orchard, and wild foraged apples LIVE into one “MONSTER” cider blend and celebrate all things pressed. This year’s party will also feature the release of the 2017 batch of The Cider Monster!

Nine Pin’s PRESSING PARTY will include hand pressed burgers from Burger 21, french pressed coffee from Electric City Roasters, body presses through massages from Albany Massage, T-Shirt pressing from Compas Life, an apple jug bench press competition sponsored by North Albany’s CrossFit Beyond, pressed quesadillas from Muddaddy Flats, tastings from Albany Distilling Company, pressed donut ice cream sliders from The Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream, free temporary Nine Pin tattoo presses, pressed candle stacks with Collar City Candle, a pie eating contest where you can press your face into a delicious apple pie, fresh pressed mimosa bar, and more! Winner of the bench press competition (both men and women) will receive a Nine Pin gift basket and a 1 month free membership to Cross Fit Beyond. Winner of the pie eating contest will win an amazing cider gift basket as well.

Throughout the day the apple press will be running, cider will be pouring, and they will have live original music from Jay Maloney 11-1pm, Hunny Slider 1:30-3:30pm, Side Show Willie 4-6pm with 102.7 WEQX – The REAL Alternative doing a LIVE broadcast from 12-2pm.

General Admission tickets in advance are 15$ and at the door are 20$ (include a complimentary glass of cider). Cider Monster Special tickets are 30$ and are only available in advance (includes a complimentary glass of cider and a bottle of Cider Monster 2016 to go). DD tickets are 5$.

Local vendor goods will all be available for purchase at the event.

Drink Albany 2018

The Capital Craft Beverage Trail proudly presents the 4th annual Drink Albany, a pop-up New York State craft beverage market and tasting event. Join us on October 5th from 6-9pm on the 4th floor of the New York State Museum for the New York craft beverage experience of the year.

General Admission tickets include a souvenir sample glass and the opportunity to sample the world class libations produced right here in the Capital Region and New York State. In addition, products will be available for purchase by the can, bottle and growler to take home.

Last year’s SOLD OUT so make sure you get your tickets in advance! A limited amount of discounted Early bird tickets will be available until September 21st!

EMPAC: Celebrating 10 Years of Experimental Media and Performing Arts 10/11-10/13

Over the course of three days, and across EMPAC’s four main venues and public spaces, the 10YEARS celebration will mark a decade since the building’s opening in 2008 by presenting a diverse offering of cross-disciplinary performances spanning music, dance, theater, film, and many experiential spaces in between. Five of these performances have been newly commissioned by EMPAC, were developed over the past year through the artist-in-residence program, and will make their world premiere this weekend.

In addition to the lineup of performances and installations, Saturday’s events will include a research demonstration by the Cognitive and Immersive Systems Laboratory (CISL), a talk on digital archiving strategies by EMPAC Director Johannes Goebel, and an address by Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson preceding Saturday evening’s Ambisonic performance in the Concert Hall.

Hops and Harvest Festival

The Hops and Harvest Festival features the best of fall in Upstate New York with activities like a pie eating contest, hops demonstration, food vendors, music, and more! We will be entertained with bluegrass music throughout the night by The Lonely Heartstring Band, Honeysuckle, and the Infamous Stringdusters! The Infamous Stringdusters have consistently covered new ground, inspired fans, and won a 2018 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album for their 2017 release Laws of Gravity.

Capital Region Walk for R.I.T.A.

When you walk in the Capital Region Walk for R.I.T.A., you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. In addition, the Capital Region NY Chapter uses funds to provide free suicide prevention education, training and support programs to the local community. 

Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.

The Mount Snow Brewers Festival is established as one of the premier events of its kind in the Northeast, named one of The 20 Best Summer Destinations In Ski Country by FREESKIER Magazine , and we are expecting nearly 50 different breweries to be on-hand pouring their beers and ciders from 100+ different taps.

As always, there will be tons of great food options on the festival grounds with a huge BBQ on Cuzzins deck along with vendors whipping up kettle korn, crepes, waffles and a few other surprises to satiate your appetite.

Historic Neighborhood Brew Tours – Warehouse District

Did you know Albany was once at the center of the North American beer industry? Albany Beer Historian, Craig Gravina, is an author and co-founder of the Albany Ale Project. Craig will be leading tours through Albany’s former brewing districts, discussing the impact beer and ale had on Albany. Tour is offered in four of Albany’s Distinct Neighborhoods. Each pub will offer drink specials exclusive to tour attendees!

The Warehouse District tour will meet at Lost and Found, located on the corner of Broadway and Pleasant Street. Lost and Found specializes in craft beer and locally sourced food. The Warehouse District is the heart of our local craft beverage industry and Craig will highlight the brewers of the neighborhood’s past and present.

Solarfest, New England’s most entertaining source of energy education for over 20 years, is coming to Stratton Mountain in Londonderry on Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th! Farming Man Fest at Indian Ladder Farms

On Saturday August 18th Indian Ladder Farms has put together a day full of great local music, good food and farm fresh beer. This will be a great opportunity for beer and cider enthusiasts to not only try a wide range of new beverages from dozens of local craft breweries, cideries and distilleries, but also to meet and talk with the producers themselves.

Taking that idea further, the farm is offering an educational aspect to the event with a hop picking demonstration earlier in the day at 11am. Indian Ladder Cidery and Brewery makes their products with hops, barley and apples grown on site.

Most people that visit Indian Ladder Farms are familiar with the orchards, the farm market, the brewery and its beer garden, but the festival itself will take place a few fields back in a beautiful setting nestled near the Helderberg escarpment. Gates will open at 2pm with live music from 3pm until 11pm. Food will be available for purchase.
