Dogs In A Pile – Quarantine Concert Series presented by Common Roots Brewing

Enjoy this free concert from your home as High Peaks Event Production and NY Rock n Roots put on a high-quality production with full band.  Pick up some Common Roots brews and you’re in for a Sunday Funday!  www.commonrootsbrewing.com

Dogs in a Pile is the culmination of a love of music born from the deepest American roots of psychedelia, jazz, fusion, funk, traditional, and rock & roll. Sprung from the rich Asbury Park music scene in New Jersey, their serendipitous convergence has made for the kind of kindred intuition its members had only once dreamed of. Described as “listening to a single moving organism,” the sum of its five parts represents an original journey into the peaks and valleys of psychedelic improvisation, all while remaining reminiscent of so much we love of life and music.
The final iteration of “the Dogs” began with University of the Arts Philadelphia student and Asbury Park veteran Jimmy Law, along with his long-time friend Joe Babick, a 4 year veteran of the gifted young musician’s program at the nationally renowned Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ. Lightning struck when they were introduced to Berklee School of Music student and bass player Sam Lucid, who immediately suggested fellow Berklee student and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Kaplan. The addition of fellow Berklee student and collaborator Brian Murray in 2019 made for the quintessential final piece in the Dogs’ puzzle. Their commonality and love for improvisation by way of bands like the Grateful Dead and Phish, as well as a fervent inclination for the study of jazz, fusion and classical music has helped shape the free-flowing style that is the Dogs. Their unique synergy and joy in creating “music as an atmosphere” equates simply to, as the band would say, “spreading good music and good energy to good people.”

About Grace Potter:

Described by Spin as “one of the greatest living voices in rock today,” Grace Potter has not only played every major music festival from Coachella and Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo and Rock in Rio, she’s created her own thriving music festival, Burlington’s Grand Point North.

Additionally, she’s shared a stage with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Robert Plant, the Allman Brothers, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, and The Roots to name just a few. Potter has also collaborated with the Flaming Lips for a Tim Burton film, written and produced music for film and TV and recorded two GRAMMY-nominated, multiplatinum singles with her friend Kenny Chesney.

In October 2019, Grace released Daylight, her second solo LP and first for Fantasy Records. Daylight arrives after a turbulent, life-altering 4-year hiatus from music that had the acclaimed singer-songwriter contemplating whether she would ever record another album. Cathartic and emotionally raw, Daylight is the result of that arduous journey, the most emotionally revealing, musically daring work of her career.

“I’ve always aimed to write songs from a universal perspective; so that anyone who heard my music could relate, but that actually made it harder for me to take ownership of my own perspective. These songs were written so I could process–and be accountable for–my own life experience,” Potter says. “I had just pulled the ripcord on my whole life. It was an incredibly jarring, private experience. When the dust settled a bit, the last thing I wanted to do was tell the whole world about it through song. It was a very gradual process of re-framing music and its purpose in my life. So, when I finally started writing songs again-it had to be for myself and myself alone. ”Produced by her

husband Eric Valentine, Daylight took shape in the Topanga Canyon home they’d recently settled into. Unsigned and entirely free of any pressure to appease, Potter slowly carved out ideas and the two began laying down tracks. Moving to Valentine’s Hollywood studio, Barefoot Recording, the songs came to life with the help of longtime Potter collaborators including guitarist Benny Yurco and drummer Matt Musty, friends Benmont Tench and Larry Goldings on keys and supreme vocalists, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of the indie band Lucius

Albany based TIP. They’re an alternative rock group that skips across congruous genres, creating another in depth, unique collection worth diving into.

The Blind Owl Band – Quarantine Concert Series

Hailing from Saranac Lake, NY, in the heart of the Adirondack mountains, The Blind Owl Band has been creating what they call Freight Train String Music since 2010. And a freight train it truly is. Although the quartet’s sound is rooted in traditional stringed instruments (guitar, basses, banjo and mandolin), their music surges forward with the strength and power of a hundred-ton diesel locomotive. Songs barrel down the tracks with momentum and intensity normally found in much heavier, heavily amplified music. “Although we look like a bluegrass band we are not,” explains co-founder Eric Munley (mandolin, vocals). “Collectively, we’re a musical representation of the sounds floating around in our heads. We use the instruments of our ancestors, but play music of our time; we’re influenced much more by all that has happened in the musical world over the past three decades than by what was created in the first three-quarters of the 20th Century.” The Blind Owl Band builds on what they regard as a basic approach to traditional songwriting and arranging and push the envelope, stretching the limits of raw, acoustic instrumentation. Munley explains part of the band’s mindset: “In a time of perfection and an increasing reliance on digital processors, we’re trying to expand the sound, to inspire use of wood and metal.” In just under ten years the band has released three albums (Rabble Rousing, This Train We Ride is Made of Wood and Steel & Skeezy Patty) and toured extensively throughout the eastern US, logging nearly 800 shows across 17 states since January 2012. They’ve played on almost every festival east of the Mississippi and shared the stage with countless artists across all genres of the musical spectrum. This freight train has no one conductor but four shovel boys pushing the limits of their engine night after night, so climb aboard and get ready for a one-of-a-kind ride.

Harvest & Rust – A Tribute to Neil Young – Quarantine Concert Series

It’s hard to represent the wide-array of Neil Young’s influential material in one show, but that’s exactly what the band HARVEST & RUST does. Based in Western Massachusetts, the core four members of HARVEST & RUST often augment their show with other well-known local musicians to reproduce every era of Neil Young’s music. Be it the chart-topping HARVEST material (including Old Man, Heart of Gold, etc.) to the electric explorations of RUST NEVER SLEEPS (Hey Hey My My, etc.), as well as songs from Neil’s time in Crosby Stills Nash & Young and Buffalo Springfield, you’re in for a night of “complete Neil”.

Jocelyn & Chris Drive In Concert

Tickets: $50 per car – Bonus! After the performance, please stay for a screening of the 2019 movie Yesterday.

Siblings Jocelyn & Chris along with their band will headline this event. With vocal comparisons to Janis Joplin and Grace Slick and guitar work likened to Jimi Hendrix and David Gilmour, Jocelyn & Chris have placed 3 consecutive singles in the Billboard Triple A Top 40, brought two records to #1 on the Jambands Top 30, and recently appeared on  NBC’s Today Show. The siblings, both graduates of Harvard University, have balanced college with performances coast to coast and recordings featuring special guests G. Love, Gov’t Mule’s Danny Louis, and Cory Wong of Vulfpeck. They’ve been featured at Sundance, Summerfest, SXSW, and Mountain Jam Music Festival, to name just a few, and garnered coverage from Baeble, Huffington Post, NowThis, Paste Magazine, People, Jam in the Van, Hollywood Reporter, and numerous others.

After the performance, patrons are invited to stay for a screening of the 2019 movie Yesterday. Starring Himesh Patel, with appearances by Kate McKinnon and Ed Sheeran. It follows the life of a a struggling musician who  realizes he’s the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.
