Rome & Duddy – Friends & Family Acoustic Tour
Rome & Duddy – Friends & Family is a special project from Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome and Duddy of Dirty Heads. Both artists collaborated on 2008’s Lay Me Down, which would go on to be the first song in history from an independent label to reach #1 on Billboard’s rock songs chart. The song would remain on Billboard’s alternative chart for 11 weeks. The Friends & Family Tour will be a stripped down and intimate version of the Sublime and Dirty Heads live experience fans know and love – each concert will include separate acoustic sets by Rome and Duddy, and both artists will perform together to close the show. Micah Brown of Iration will open on select dates, making it an all-star night with some of the scene’s favorite artists.
Sublime with Rome made its debut in 2009 at Cypress Hill’s Smokeout Festival in San Bernardino, California. They recently finished recording their 3rd full length album, Blessings, released on May 27th.
Dirty Heads released their 7th album, Super Moon, on August 9th. The album was recorded at the legendary RCA Studio A on Music Row in Nashville.
Theo Katzman of Vulfpeck
“Modern Johnny is a feeling,” says acclaimed singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Theo Katzman in regards to his forthcoming self-release Modern Johnny Sings: Songs in the Age of Vibe, due out in early 2020. “It’s closer to Vonnegut’s Kilgore Trout than Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust — Modern Johnny represents the journey, the quest, the plight of the singer-songwriter trying to make it in today’s music world.”Known for his rock-and-roll inspired solo albums, as well as his contributions to internet funk sensation Vulfpeck, Katzman has had this feeling bubbling in the recesses of his mind for some time now, weaving its way through his songwriting process and onto his recordings. The feeling itself is multi-dimensional: it’s a subtle sarcasm, but not at the expense of sincerity; criticism, but not at the expense of joy; character, but not at the expense of vulnerability.Modern Johnny is not an alter-ego per se, but he and Katzman do have some striking similarities. Both were born in the mid-‘80s, forming their musical identities from the rubble of ‘90s rock radio, the remains of their parents’ record collections, a handful of ‘Greatest Hits’ compilations on Compact Disc, and several hard drives’ worth of miscredited MP3s from Napster. Both arrived in Los Angeles in the mid 2010’s with a “songs-can-change-the-world” attitude, fully expecting to join the Eagles. Both find themselves stumbling through the free market in the age of social, the age of streaming…the Age of Vibe. The year is 2020. Billy Joel hasn’t released an album in over two and a half decades, Stevie Wonder is ranked 230th on Spotify, and Paul McCartney’s most popular song is “FourFiveSeconds.” It’s hard to know what to make of all of this… and Modern Johnny isn’t necessarily what the kids are asking for. He’s too heart to be hip, too hip to be pop, too pop to be rock, and too rock to be art.TOUGH SITCH.But no matter the zeitgeist, both Theo Katzman and Modern Johnny forge ahead the only way they know how: in pursuit of messy, honest, exuberant human emotion through popular song. The result is Modern Johnny Sings: Songs in the Age of Vibe.

Fruition
Fruition w/ Caleb Elliott at The Hollow Bar + Kitchen
7:30p Doors/8:30p Show

Fruition’s newest album, Wild As The Night, conveys the emotions of our darkest, and sometimes weakest, moments. Influenced equally by acoustic music as well as rock ‘n’ roll, the eclectic, after-hours vibe comes naturally to the Portland, Oregon-based band. Their unmistakable vocal blend first revealed itself in 2008 when Anderson tagged along with Asebroek and Naja for an afternoon of busking in Portland. Since that time, they have opened shows for the Wood Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass, and Jack Johnson, and appeared at festivals like Telluride Bluegrass, Bonnaroo, and DelFest. Wild As The Night follows the band’s acclaimed Tucker Martine-produced 2018 album, Watching It All Fall Apart.
The album’s first single, “Wild As The Night,” provides perhaps the album’s most beautiful moment, with vocals from Naja evoking the midnight grief of letting a relationship go. It was released with the announcement of the album, along with the track’s accompanying music video.
Wild As The Night opens with the rollicking and pulsating “Forget About You,” setting the tone of the record as a whole; commiserating in sorrows and lifting spirits. “Sweet Hereafter” follows the album’s self-titled first single with an entrancing drum and piano loop that could be equally at home on a James Blake record. The organic beat gives way to thick repeating harmonies, leaving the listener wanting more after a subtle fade to silence. The album picks back up, tempo-wise, with a quick rock and roll study in city living with “Raining In The City” before it dives back into more classic Fruition territory with a campfire celebration of the Oregon Coast in “Manzanita Moonlight.” “Don’t Give Up On Me”’s seductive groove dips back into the commiseration with the final verse lamenting, “All the world is just empty without somebody to love.”
“For me, I’ve just always hoped that people relate to the music, whether it’s a certain chord movement that lifts their spirit or comforts their sorrow, or a lyric that speaks to them like it was written for them,” Asebroek says. “This music comes from places of vulnerability and I hope people can take their guard down a little while resonating with it.”
Recorded at Silo Sound Studio in Denver, Wild As The Night captures the band’s mindset in the midst of relentless touring. “We were exhausted, but musically firing on all cylinders,” says Thompson, who shares production credit with the band on the new project. “It’s extremely diverse Americana, with a focus on great songwriting and harmonies. We weren’t going for a particular sound, just something that’s honest to our live sound along with a few tricks we learned from our last producer, Tucker Martine.”
With a renewed focus on harnessing the energy of the live experience, Wild As The Night allows listeners to get a glimpse of these longtime friends doing what they do best on stage, whether they’re opening for the Wood Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass, and Jack Johnson, or playing at festivals like Telluride Bluegrass, Bonnaroo, and DelFest.
“Something that has always tied our variable styles together is the honesty in the songwriting, the attention paid toward what is genuinely and deeply catchy, not superficially so,” Asebroek says. “Vocal harmonies have also always been a unifying tool for our band. The Fruition sound has always been about being more than the sum of our parts.”

With 12 years of relentless touring behind them, Vermont-based rock band Twiddle has built an impressive resume spanning Red Rocks to Bonnaroo, and multiple sellouts of historic rock venues including Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre, and Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club. And with the second half of the band’s third studio album, PLUMP, on the horizon, the band’s career continues to catapult forward. Buoyed by the generous support of 359 Kickstarter donors, the 27-song album does more than showcase the group’s beautiful music, but also tells an important story, comprised in PLUMP Chapters 1 & 2.
Recorded during a two-year span with legendary producer Ron St. Germain, PLUMP serves as a reflection of four brothers’ triumphs and struggles, both individual and as a whole. On Chapter 1, songs like “Lost in the Cold” and “Every Soul” detail what it’s like to hit rock bottom and how to rise back up. “So many fans have shared how these songs carried them through very difficult times, and that alone makes this all worth it,” said Brook Jordan, Twiddle’s percussionist and vocalist.
Comparatively, Chapter 2 contains genre-bending instrumentals, as well as mystifying epics like “Nicodemus Portulay” and “Orlando’s.” More than ten years later, these songs mirror the earliest Twiddle arrangements of 2004-2005 when Mihali Savoulidis and Ryan Dempsey were collaborating in their freshmen dorms at Castleton State College. The completion of PLUMP is timely, coming at a moment when the band’s fervent fan base is at an all-time high and expanding rapidly.
In the live setting, more and more people are invigorated by Twiddle’s community, promoting positivity and the band’s skillful improvisational music. So many like-minded people believe in the greater good, and they find that good in Twiddle.
Twiddle is comprised of Zdenek Gubb on bass and vocals, Ryan Dempsey on keyboards and vocals, Mihali Savoulidis on guitar and lead vocals, and Brook Jordan on percussion and vocals. A more detailed biography of each band member, along with upcoming tour dates and updates, can be found at TwiddleMusic.com
